One-on-One Nutrition Counseling:
One-on-one nutrition counseling is helpful for those who are trying to gain or lose weight, diabetes patients, high blood pressure patients, high cholesterol patients, or those just wanting to make improved nutritional choices. In our counseling sessions we cover how to read a food label, meal planning, emotional eating, how to shop, how to eat out, and numerous other topics that aid the individual client. We will meet once a week- for 6 weeks, either in person, over the phone or on skype. Materials will be sent to you via email ahead of time for us to discuss together. You will have access to email and text questions 24/7.
Personalized Meal Planning:
Clients can fill out a 3 day food record for evaluation, complete with food preferences. Realistic choices and portion sizes for both meals and snacks are reviewed extensively to ensure success. A meal plan with 5 choices for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks will be provided to enable you to reach your goals. Session can be conducted over the phone, or via skype and will include the following:
- An assessment of your current health and medical history.
- A review of your current goals.
- Assessment of your physical activity and determination of calories expended.
- A computerized analysis of 3 days of food logs.
- A follow up by email or phone call to review questions.
- Additional follow ups can be scheduled if needed
Athlete Nutrition Counseling
For athletes, how you fuel your body can make the difference between success and failure. The objective is to design a customized game plan to help clients excel on, and off, the field by using research-based nutrition training. Appointments may be conducted in person, via Skype, or via email and will cover the following topics.
Body Fat Reduction: We will discuss your optimal body fat percentage for your sport, how your current eating habits effect your body fat, and what changes need to be made to achieve your goals.
Lean Body Mass Increases: Gaining lean body mass (MUSCLE) is different than gaining overall weight. We will discuss how to change your eating in order to increase your lean body mass while keeping your body fat at an optimal level.
Pre- and Post- Competition Eating: We will discuss how & what to eat -before, during, and after competition as well as on the road.
Supplement Use Counseling: Supplements are meant to be just that- supplemental. After reviewing your current eating habits we will discuss different supplement options that may help reach your goals. We will counsel you on safety, efficacy, and legality of supplemental use if needed.
Injury Rehab: Science has proven that certain macro- and micro- nutrients are needed to help you heal from injury- whether that injury is a simple sprain or one that requires surgery. We will discuss what foods you will need to incorporate into your eating habits both before and after surgery to help you get back to training as quick as possible.
Hydration Nutrition: Performance decreases by % when you are dehydrated. You also raise your risk of injury and serious illness when you are dehydrated. We will discuss symptoms of dehydration and how to prevent cramping and dehydration before, during, and after your sport activity.
Individualized Grocery Store Tours:
A 45 minute tour through the grocery store to show tips on how to pick the proper foods for your lifestyle goals. A grocery store guide is provided as well as cooking tips and coupons.
